Elsie Lapelerie
My art has been directly impacted by 90s Disney films, works produced by Tolkien, and the illustrator Shirley Barber, whose fairy and mermaid paintings were hugely influential for me as a child. I am often inspired by the Art Nouveau movement and its curving frames and floral designs, as well as its muted colour palette. The women in my pieces symbolise strength, wisdom and beauty; my aim is to show powerful feminine characters with personality.
